Our last OFSTED inspection took place in 2022.
“Pre-school leaders put children at the centre of their work. Children are extremely confident and

We were awarded GOOD.

Meet the committee
Holcombe Brook Methodist Pre-school is a committee run charitable trust. The committee is made up of parents
and carers as well as members of Holcombe Brook Methodist Church - some of whom set up the pre-school over 47
years ago! As a committee we make decisions by consensus, alongside the pre-school employees, which means all
decisions are made in the best interest of the children and their families. The committee ensures all decisions meet
legal, financial and constitutional obligations. It takes a wide range of skills and attributes to run the pre-school and
we are always looking for new members to help contribute to the pre-school.
We are a small and very well-established pre-school that has been serving the community for more than 47 years.
We are well known as a warm and caring environment. We have a very experienced staff who help are able to help children flourish and be prepared for school.
We are pleased to support children from all backgrounds and with special needs.
We have a large, light and airy room downstairs and also accessible by a lift. The room is securely locked at all times.
There is direct access to toilet and hand-washing facilities within the room.
There is also immediate access to our well-equipped outdoor play area. We also have a smaller room which is used for smaller groups.
This room is also used for 1-to-1 sessions with other professionals if required.

We are also supported and accredited by leading industry organisations, including:
- OFSTED: We were inspected in January 2022 and had an overall grade of Good.
Children form safe and secure relationships with each other and staff. They behave consistently well. Children help those
that are younger carry out routines, such as tidying up at the end of an activity. Children enjoy the praise they receive
from staff and are proud of their achievements. They have a go at tricky tasks and show positive attitudes towards new
activities. For example, young children persevere when peeling their own orange for snack.”
- Golden Apple Award. We achieved Gold for the healthy snacks and choices we provide for the children.
- We are affiliated with Bury Council
The pre-school is a non-profit making setting and therefore we rely on fundraising schemes to help build funds in
order to buy new resources. Without parent reps the pre-school would be unable to operate - parent reps are a
valuable part of the running of the setting it only lasts for the duration that your child is at the pre-school. So if you
feel that you can offer a little bit of your time, to help raise funds for the pre-school no matter how little it appears
to be it would be greatly appreciated.
A number of years ago one of our parents set up a ‘Friends of Holcombe Brook Methodist Pre-school’. These parents
organised mini meetings to discuss innovative ways of raising much need funds for our pre-school.
In the past we have raised money by having...
- Teddy Bears Picnic
- Pyjama day
- Obstacle course
- Plant sale
- Clothing collections
If anyone has any other ideas with regards to fundraising for the pre-school all suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.
